Vinted Members Share Displeasure Over Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
